It is looking a lot like Christmas in the gallery and the street. The Christmas lights on Southside look very festive and even the Prawn on West Pier is lit up.
We have so much new work there is a great selection for every budget. Items on display change all the time, make sure you keep popping in to have a look. There is so much to choose from.
We have a great selection of unique and handmade Christmas decorations. They make such a great gift or addition to your own home.
We also have a great choice of glass baubles and small items of jewellery and many other small gifts, as well as special treats. Emmy, who makes the glass baubles has also included some unique vases, which incorporate her knitted copperwire.
Almost all our artists have recently delivered new work. A delivery by Richard Glass included these lovely handblown glass robins. Staying with a bird theme. Frances Spice has delivered more jewellery as well as bird vases and bowls.
Melanie Guy has sent us a great selection of pewter dishes in various sizes as well as paperweights, coasters and two clocks.
The latest arrivals of clocks by Sarah McCormack have sold quickly, but we still have two left and we are hoping to receive more soon.
Entirely new to 45 Southside are chess and mini chess boards by Thais Lenkiewicz.
Another great present.
We always love it, when Kate Packer delivers new wirework.
This time we have had a wide selection of Christmas Decorations, necklaces, bug, moth and even seahorse brooches in lots of colours as well as wonderful framed insects. Watch out for a selection of Kate Packer’s work in our online shop and see much more here at 45 Southside.
We have so much insect inspired art and jewellery at the minute, that I thought they deserved their own post. Adorn your walls with dragonflies made out of embroidered silk in boxes, butterflies made from wirework or a poetrytile featuring a grasshopper.
Kate Packer also makes bug and moth brooches as well as earrings and necklaces.
They are all made from a combination of her intricately woven coloured metal wire and semi-precious stones or beads.
Flies, spiders and butterflies are also part of Remon Jephcott’s Victorian inspired ceramics. For her jewellery range she combines images of flies and spiders with traditional shapes and gold or silver lustre.

A few weeks have passed since the last ‘What’s in Store’. You have been keeping our artists busy with plenty of commissions. Next to bespoke orders we have also had plenty of new work delivered. Jan Brewerton, Lincoln Kirby-Bell and Kate Packer have been busy. Lincoln’s latest design includes a range of tableware and this wallplates with frogs. Kate has been busy making jewellery, including her popular bug brooches and wall pieces.
We also have a new ceramic artist at 45 Southside Janie Ramsey. Watch this space for a post on her work in detail soon. Janie’s work is inspired by her time in Turkey as well as archaeology.
Coincidentally, one of the pewter wallpanels delivered by Melanie Guy recently is called Turkish Atmosphere. It is the smaller more colourful pewter panel underneath the larger panel. Also back with new work are Hamlin and Wright with their fused glass panels towards the back of the picture.
‘Paris’ is a rare Cityscape mosaic by Jude Freeman. Jenny Beavan and Jane Price have also created new work.
